With the aim of providing a concrete tool to ensure the fundamental right of access to healthcare, the Sanlorenzo Foundation is launching a fund to support families living on Elba Island with children under the age of 16 who need to travel to the mainland for medical visits or hospital treatment not available on the island.
✅ What it is
A financial contribution (voucher) to cover transportation costs related to medical needs.
It is intended for families with children aged 0 to 16 living in one of the seven municipalities of Elba Island.
Medical services must be prescribed by a doctor and carried out in public healthcare facilities outside the island.
The voucher is approved before the medical service takes place, but is only disbursed after the visit or hospital stay has been completed.
👪 Who can apply
Applications may be submitted by families who:
- Reside in one of the municipalities of Elba Island: Portoferraio, Campo nell’Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Rio.
- Have at least one child under 16 years of age with a medical prescription for treatment not available locally.
- Have an ISEE (equivalent economic situation indicator) not exceeding €25,000.
- Have not already benefited from the voucher in the same year.
💶 Voucher amounts
- €150 for outpatient visits or examinations carried out in a single day (no overnight stay required).
- €300 for hospital stays requiring at least one overnight stay outside the island.

Submit your application in one of the following ways:
- Online, via the application form available here: ➡️ Apply Online
- In person, by collecting the form at the “Bottega della Salute” in Portoferraio (Via Giosuè Carducci 68, Portoferraio) and submitting it there.
Prepare the required documentation:
- Medical prescription for treatment outside the island
- Copy of the parent/guardian’s ID document
- Valid ISEE certificate
After the medical service has been completed, send the certificate confirming the visit or hospital stay, issued by the public healthcare facility, to the Sanlorenzo Foundation.
The voucher will then be issued via bank transfer.
📌 The contribution can only be disbursed after submission of the required certification and must be requested before the date of the medical service.
⏱ Deadlines and availability
The call is open on a rolling basis: applications may be submitted at any time until available funds are exhausted.
Applicants will receive a response within 30 days of submitting a complete application.
